The Firm

Multi-disciplinary practice with offices in Surbiton and Feltham. A busy Family department dealing with a range of legal disputes including public law children, private law children, divorce and financial disputes.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience required

  • 2 years + PQE in Family Law;
  • Registered with the Law Society and Family Panel or otherwise willing to work towards becoming a Panel member;
  • File management skills including financial management skills particularly concerning fee earning and accounting rules;
  • Ability to prioritise work and function effectively under pressure;
  • Ability to work to set deadlines;
  • Ability to get on with people of all backgrounds and motivate others;
  • Proper telephone manner in accordance with the Firm’s requirements;
  • Proper client care in accordance with Firm’s requirements;
  • Committed and highly driven;
  • Must have a clean, valid Practicing Certificate at the time of applying;
  • Strong management skills;
  • Committed team player with ability to approach team concerns fairly, foster culture of positive change and encourage cross referrals;
  • Professional with a pro-active approach; excellent client care skills and ability to deal with vulnerable client matters in a sensitive manner and resolve complicated practicalities involved in Family Law issues;
  • Excellent networking and communication skills with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Responsible for all aspects of Family Law work including providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members;
  • Registered with the Law Society and Family Panel or otherwise willing to work towards becoming a Panel member;
  • Variety of duties including dealing with a range of Family work including divorce, financial disputes and remedies, injunctions/ non molestation orders;
  • You will have a professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills and be interested in Business Development and Marketing to supplement the substantial work volumes brought in by the company;
  • To be responsible for own training programme;
  • To manage case files in accordance with the Firm’s policy;
  • To manage file finance in accordance with the Firm’s policy and Solicitors accounts rules;
  • To attend upon clients of the Firm either at court or in the office to properly take instructions;
  • To communicate with clients and others by letter, telephone and in person;
  • To attend counsel, clients and witnesses at court hearings and case conferences;
  • To ensure client’s affairs and the business of the Firm are kept confidential.
